And Travel is the Dessert...
I sometimes wonder whether it is a good or bad thing to be a friend of a book binder as it is always probably pretty obvious what present you are going to receive. For each big occasion I try and think up a new type of journal or notebook that is in reflects them and is in keeping with the occasion – that’s largely how I expand the range of journals in my shop. This white leather journal with linked heart motif is the ‘Jaycie and Jim’ and I made it for good friends of mine who got married a few weeks ago and I was lucky enough to be invited to their wedding (child free too which was a treat!). They both love traveling so a travel journal, inscribed with the names and the date of their wedding on the front cover seemed the right way to go. I wanted to make it extra special though and started playing around with ways to sew hearts into the leather. I’ve only experimented with basic shapes before and it was great fun to test my sewing skills and see what I could do. I’ll follow this post soon with some notes and pictures showing what the process of making the book.
